[The gear switches on to near total darkness, save for a strange pair of tiny red-orange lights, illuminating Illidan's brooding face from the very middle of it. Yes, his eyes appear to be glowing behind the blindfold. Though the glow flickers a bit every now and then for some reason.]

My Pokemon have recently begun acting very strangely.

[The tiny squeak of a Vulpix from above chimes in, and the two lights turn a bit, the sound of a pat on something soft (probably the same Vulpix) echoing strangely. Well, not too strangely. He's obviously in a cave, after all.]

Kael is being exceptionally affectionate, while Vashj has suddenly become more hostile than usual. And given her temper this is no easy feat. The wild ones in here seem suddenly more drawn to us as well.

I have heard several complaints of some sort of "disease" spreading, but as far as I can tell I myself have not been affected by anything close to the scope of that affliction. Although I do have one symptom. My eye sockets appear to be much... warmer than they were before.

... But perhaps that is only my imagination.

[No, Illidan, no it is not.]

...So have mine. Even the egg I have is acting strangely. [Though he won't admit he's been feeling strangely towards it as well.

[The gear focuses on a blue egg wrapped up in blankets. It is perfectly still until Rin takes a step towards it. The egg starts to wobble, then wiggle until it had dislodged itself from the blankets. It slowly started to roll away. Rin sighs (not for the first time that day) and asks his Poochyena to put the egg back where it belonged.]

Or you could take it off. With whatever's going on with your vision, it can't be worse than what's already going on.

[There's a long, long pause.

Then Illidan sighs, a palm coming up to cover his face.]

You humans really do miss the obvious, don't you? What's "going on with my vision" is that I don't have any. I'm blind.

Though I did hear the sound of the egg rolling away at your footstep, so I believe I understand what happened... though it seems impossible. It's an egg, it should not be able to do that.

[Oh. Oh... He feels pretty bad now...]

Sorry I didn't notice... [He doesn't nitpick at the human part.]

...Well, this egg is. And it's been doing it since I got sick.

If you apologize, it should be to yourself. Missing things that obvious can be fatal.

[Yeah, he's actually not offended, just annoyed and convinced that most of the people he's met in Johto are idiots for not noticing.]

Is it close to hatching? If the Pokemon within is nearly ready to be born, that might explain it...

...Dude, I think your eyes are glowing.

Are they? [He seems mildly intrigued by this idea, but not all that surprised, somehow.] Is it a steady glow, or more of a flicker?

Mostly steady, but like, it flickers a little sometimes.

And what is their color?

[Well that's an odd question to ask. It's like he's familiar with his eyes doing this. The red-orange behind his blindfold dims a bit as his brow furrows.]

Kinda red-orange-ish. Maybe kinda like a candle flame.

Hmmmm, odd. They are supposed to be green. I suppose it is not the same fire.

Not the same... Dude, you mean your eyes are normally on fire back home?

Indeed. Over ten thousand years ago, I had my eyes burned out by the Lord of Demons, Sargeras. This gave me new powers and the ability to perceive the world around me in ways others can only dream of. Ironically, it helped me overturn Sargeras's own plans.

Whoa, seriously? How'd that work?

Sargeras was under the impression that my desire for power was strong enough to convince me to stay under his thumb. But I'm not a fool enough to remain in the service of a demon for any longer than I have to. I cut myself loose from him the first opportunity I could find. Then again, I was never truly on his side to begin with.

So like, you pretended to be on his side for your own benefit?

Precisely. He didn't realize what had happened until it was far too late.

[said with just a hint less enthusiasm than usual, because guess who's used that tactic too]

It was a narrow thing. It took all my cunning to be able to trick him. I wouldn't advise anyone else trying that same tactic.

[Because he, after all, is better than everybody. He does note that wilt in Kurow's voice, though, and it isn't hard at all to figure out the reason for it.]

Naah, course not. It's a good strategy, if you can pull it off. Just reminded me of something, that's all.

I suppose it would. Nearly everyone has been on one side or another of a move like that, if they've become powerful enough to gain enemies.

Exactly. Like, it ain't all that uncommon a tactic. Happens all the time.

Mmm... Try telling that to my people, though.

They'll forgive you eventually, right?

I have no interest in being forgiven by them. If they can't understand why I did what I did, they can rot, for all I care. The exile my brother placed on me was one of the kindest things he's ever done for me.

Exile? Dude, that's harsh.

Of course it doesn't, but it's been a long, long time since I agreed with "my people" on anything. If he hadn't banished me, I probably would have left on my own.
